Arkansas is just two days away from taking on Texas Tech, a game that could be considered the most important matchup of the Hogs’ entire season.

Texas Tech has struggled in its first two weeks, despite winning both games. Narrow victories over inferior teams like Central Arkansas and UTEP has Razorbacks fans believing their team can march into Lubbock, Texas and win this game.

Before Saturday does roll around, we breakdown the five Texas Tech players every Arkansas fan should know.

  1. Davis Webb (QB): Sophomore quarterback Davis Webb is the key to the entire Texas Tech offense. On top of adding 20 pounds in the offseason, Webb has made significant improvements in his arm strength and in his confidence. He’s struggled somewhat in the first two weeks with his composure, picking up an unsportsmanlike penalty against UTEP. At times, he’s looked like a sophomore out on the field, but Webb has also put up some great numbers this season – 730 passing yards, seven touchdowns and two interceptions – and he’s got the respect and confidence of his teammates. With his passing ability, look for Texas Tech to attack the Arkansas secondary consistently on Saturday. If the Red Raiders do win, you can bet Webb will be a big reason why.
  2. Justin Stockton (RB): He’s just a true freshman, but Justin Stockton has really made an impression on the Texas Tech coaching staff. He’s an absolute speedster and definitely the quickest player on the entire team. He exploded for 135 rushing yards last week, including a 75-yard touchdown run early against UTEP. Stockton is still the primary backup to junior DeAndre Washington, but don’t let his position on the depth chart fool you. The coaching staff knows just how dynamic Stockton is and they’ll make sure he gets the ball plenty against Arkansas.
  3. Jakeem Grant (WR): If you’re wondering who Webb’s primary receiving target is, look no further than junior wide receiver Jakeem Grant. He’s only 5-foot-6, but don’t let his size fool you. He’s a game-changer. The Biletnikoff Award watch list member hauled in 65 catches for 796 yards and eight touchdowns last season. Because of his size and speed, Grant will often line up in the slot where he can utilize his shiftiness. Occasionally, he’ll be in the backfield, but no matter where Grant is lined up, he’s a top priority for the Arkansas defense.
  4. Rika Levi (DT): At 6-foot-2, 367-pounds, it’s safe to say Levi takes up quite of a bit of space in the middle of Texas Tech’s 3-4 defense. Levi will be the guy looked upon to eat up a bunch of space in the middle and to make the Arkansas running backs’ days much tougher. He’s currently dealing with a knee injury that he suffered in their season-opener. He sat out last week’s game and his status is questionable at this time to play against Arkansas, but it he does end up playing he’ll be responsible for hunting down the tailbacks.
  5. Sam Eguavoen (LB): Eguavoen is the unquestioned leader of the Red Raiders’ defense and has been starting virtually ever since he was a freshman. He’ll man one of the inside linebacker positions. He was third on the team last year with 70 tackles and is considered one of the better tacklers in the Big 12. With Eguavoen leading the position group, Texas Tech possesses a very steady group of linebackers to throw at the Arkansas running backs. Look for Eguavoen to rack up a high number of tackles Saturday afternoon.
