Assessing Auburn’s 2015 class a week before signing day
There’s no team in the SEC with as much recruiting momentum over the last two weeks than Auburn, a program benefiting from its recent hire of defensive coordinator Will Muschamp along with several other defensive assistants.
With the combination of recent flips and previously unscheduled official visits, the Tigers have jumped into the fray for several of the country’s top uncommitted defenders and have already established an impressive Top 15 class even without the handful of possible February landings.
On Monday night, Auburn landed cornerback Jeremiah Dinson out of Florida who was previously committed to Kentucky thanks to a full-court press from assistant Travaris Robinson — Muschamp’s right-hand man.
Muschamp’s hoping he can get five-star defensive end Byron Cowart in a package deal that includes five-star pass rusher CeCe Jefferson and four-star linebacker Jeffery Holland. The Tigers would likely finish in the Top 5 if they could land all three, perhaps higher if five-star tackle Martez Ivey also joins the 2015 haul on signing day.
All four, along with a slew of other sought-after recruits, took officials to Auburn two weeks ago during what was billed as red carpet weekend on the Plains.
