The helmet worn by Chris Davis during last year’s historic finish in the Iron Bowl against Alabama is being put up for auction, reports ESPN sports business reporter Darren Rovell.

Goldin Auctions has acquired the helmet from one of Davis’ family friends. The helmet is inscribed “Game Used Iron Bowl 2013” and is signed by Davis, according to Rovell.

“I know there are several Auburn graduates who are big memorabilia collectors who will be bidding on this,” Goldin said.

Davis wore the helmet throughout the season including in the Iron Bowl, SEC Championship Game, BCS National Championship Game and Senior Bowl.

The auction begins on Oct. 6 and ends Nov. 1. According to Rovell, bidding is expected to begin at $5,000. However, Goldin said he expects the helmet to sell for more than $25,000.

The ball Davis carried on the “kick six” was presented to Auburn director of athletics Jay Jacobs after the game. Auburn also has possession of Davis’ jersey.
