Auburn’s vaunted rushing attack is set to become even more potent.

Via a report from 247Sports, head coach Gus Malzahn announced Tuesday that running back Kerryon Johnson likely will be playing this weekend against Ole Miss.

“At this point I’d expect him to play,” said Malzahn. “We’ll know more as we get into practice. The good thing was we didn’t have to play him last week. I thought that was very important, not just for this game, but for the rest of the year.”

Johnson had been plagued by an ankle injury suffered versus Mississippi State. Fellow RB Kamryn Pettway thrived last week in his absence — rushing for 192 yards and two touchdowns in the 56-3 rout of Arkansas.

The duo have combined for 1,235 yards and 12 touchdowns on the season. Next to LSU’s Leonard Fournette and Derrius Guice, this tandem may be the most productive one-two punch in the conference.
