Auburn has a strong tradition when it comes to placing players in the NFL. From the 29 current pros that are former Tigers to the four No. 1 overall picks to come from the university to 31 total first round picks, Auburn is always well-represented in the NFL.

Over the last decade, 34 former Tigers have been drafted into the NFL, including eight first round picks. Six of those eight first rounders came in two years: four in 2005 and two more last spring.

The four first round picks in 2005 represent the most in a single year in school history; running backs Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams, cornerback Carlos Rogers and quarterback Jason Campbell were all picked early after an undefeated season.

Three drafts saw five Auburn players taken (2005, 2007, 2008) and two more saw four selected (2011, 2014).

Auburn has several candidates to join the ranks of Tigers in the pros this weekend. Sammie Coates, who entered the draft a year early, is the best bet to be a first round pick. Running back Cameron Artis-Payne is a projected mid-round pick, while defensive tackle Gabe Wright, center Reese Dismukes and tight end C.J. Uzomah could all be picked anytime after the third round, according to mock drafts.

One of the more interesting names for the weekend is Nick Marshall. After starting the last two years at quarterback for Auburn, he could be selected as either a quarterback or defensive back. He’s viewed as a priority free agent, but could be selected late.
