Auburn and head coach Gus Malzahn reached into their bag of tricks on Saturday night, and the result was a big gain.

The Tigers ran what they call the Woody play in the third quarter of their 26-10 victory over Texas A&M. Wide receiver Ryan Davis crouched down near quarterback Jeremy Johnson. Johnson took the snap, subtly handed the ball to Davis, then pretended to drop back to pass. The 5-foot-9, 164-pound Davis, who was hidden from most of the Aggies defenders by Auburn’s offensive line, remained crouched for a second, then took off running to the left.

Davis found plenty of room to run, and sprinted for 28 yards, down to the Aggies’ 29-yard line. The play helped lead to a 30-yard field goal by Daniel Carlson, which gave the Tigers a 20-3 lead.
