More orange please!

What do you think Florida fans?

The Gators didn’t wear their home alternate orange jerseys during the regular season last fall (saved them for Birmingham), but perhaps Jim McElwain brings them back this fall to spice things up a bit at a program struggling to sell tickets.

Those hoping Florida joins the chrome helmet brigade or perhaps a grey alternate uniform set can scale back those expectations. Athletic director Jeremy Foley said earlier this year the Gators had no plans for a new uniform look or varied lids this season:

Notice Foley says ‘at this time’, so there’s hope!

Earlier this month, Nike hinted that four of its SEC teams (including Florida) would wear black this season after revealing t-shirt mocks of the look, but those rumors are unsubstantiated. The Gators have never worn black on the gridiron and I doubt that would ever fly with boosters and administration.

Prior to the start of the 2013 season, Florida’s numeral size on the front and sleeves of jerseys increased drastically — almost a Comic Sans-style font.

The Gators’ all-blue home alternate is sharp, as is the blue jersey-orange pants combination they rarely wear.
