How many teams will roll out black alternate uniforms in 2015?

A report has surfaced that says at least four SEC teams — Alabama, Florida, Georgia and LSU — will all have black Nike alternate uniforms based on the following T-shirt designs.

The information came from reporter and columnist Andrew Lind of Tidewater News, who tweeted, citing a source, that several teams will wear black Nike alternate uniforms very similar to the following T-shirts.

Mark Richt toyed with the idea of a blackout in 2014, but he later added “maybe next year.”

“I think once a year to wear the black jerseys would be great, especially since we’re the red and black,” Richt said in 2014. “I think a home game in black would be awesome. I think it would need to be more this time of the year, because if you wear black in a September game and it happens to be 100 degrees and super humid, I don’t think that would be a wise thing to do.”

Update: Georgia Athletic Director Greg McGarity said the Bulldogs will not be wearing any alternate uniforms this year.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a rumor about black Alabama alternate uniforms, but it’s just hard to see the Crimson Tide messing with tradition. The Crimson Tide’s classic crimson and white uniform is one of college football’s most iconic looks. You can see the Tide’s uniform history here.

Tennessee unveiled its new Nike uniforms on July 1, and the Vols will wear its new gray alternate uniforms at some point during the season.
