FLORIDA JUNIOR QB JEFF DRISKEL

Stats: 106-of-195, 54.4 percent, 1,092 passing yards, 9 passing TDs, 10 INTs, 9 sacks, 106.4 rating

Big-time game: Driskel’s best game came against Kentucky. He was 25-of-43 for 295 yards and three touchdowns, with one pick. He was on fire in one of Florida’s best offensive games of the season. That was the best I’ve seen Driskel play in a while.

Not his best effort: There’s no doubt about this one. Driskel went 7-of-19 for 50 yards and no touchdowns, with two picks. I’m talking about his last start — against Missouri. The Tigers came into The Swamp and beat down on the Gators, 42-13. Driskel just didn’t have any confidence in that game and the Missouri defensive line dominated. The game proved to be the last straw for the fans and coach Will Muschamp as Florida benched him for the remainder of the season.

Improvements: He needs to work on his accuracy for sure. I think the main issue is that he has had a new system every year for the last four years. I’m really interested to see the offense coach Jim McElwain installs.

Strengths: He has the size and the talent, there’s no denying that. He can make all the throws and is very mobile as well. Jeff has the ability to be a big-time player, but hasn’t really gotten there yet.

Weakness: He really struggled this year and was ultimately benched. The coaching staff gave him every opportunity to be successful and gave him a very long rope, but in the end he just didn’t play very well. I think last year’s knee injury really messed with him psychologically also. He didn’t run that much or that well all season.

Overall: The season started off so bright for Driskel and the Gators, but the hype was short-lived. I am a huge Jeff Driskel fan because he is a great guy. I think he’s very talented as well. Having a new offensive coordinator every single year for the last four years doesn’t help you too much. This will be a giant offseason for Driskel and hopefully the new staff will be the one that he’s needed.
