Finally, Florida fans have some clarity on the severity of Antonio Morrison’s knee injury and his availability for the 2015 season.

First-year coach Jim McElwain confirmed Wednesday that Morrison had two offseason surgeries on the same knee and will be limited to non-contact drills this month during fall camp.

Morrison, who missed all of spring practice, won’t be ready for the season opener and no timetable has been set for his return.

“Too early to say if he’ll play,” McElwain said, according to 247Sports. “Just know this, the fact he’ll be out there is short of a miracle based on that knee. A credit to how hard he has worked to be part of this family.”

Morrison led the Gators with 101 tackles last season and is arguably the team’s best defensive player behind cornerback Vernon Hargreaves.

McElwain gushed about Morrison’s impact off the field.

“He has had a huge impact as guys have seen how hard he has worked, what he has invested and what he was willing to do to define who he is and what he’s all about,” McElwain said. “I just can’t say enough good things about that.”

Morrison, who skipped the NFL draft in January after the bowl game injury, would be eligible for a redshirt season if he misses his senior campaign.
