The Gators have lost another defensive starter heading into Saturday’s SEC Championship Game against Alabama.

“Sherit will be definitely out,” Florida coach Jim McElwain said on a Sunday teleconference with reporters.

The redshirt junior defensive end was seen leaving the field with assistance Saturday at Florida State and on crutches after the 31-13 loss to the Seminoles. Sherit has 38 tackles on the season, including five for loss and 3.5 sacks.

The UF defense was without LB Jarrad Davis, LB Alex Anzalone, DE Bryan Cox Jr., S Marcus Maye and S Nick Washington against FSU. Davis notably took part in warmups Saturday, but later came out of the locker room in street clothes.
