Week 9 was another crazy one around the world of college football. Ohio State fell to USC without QB Julian Sayin. No. 1 Miami survived a scare against North Carolina. Indiana needed a 60-yard field goal to force overtime and earn an escape against Minnesota.

Now that we have another weekend of action in the books, the ESPN Football Power Index (FPI) has been updated. Notre Dame jumped Ohio State for the No. 1 spot, while Georgia leads the way for the SEC, checking in at No. 4.

Here’s a look at the updated top 25:

  1. Notre Dame
  2. Ohio State
  3. Miami
  4. Georgia
  5. LSU
  6. Alabama
  7. Texas
  8. Indiana
  9. Ole Miss
  10. Utah
  11. Wake Forest
  12. Oregon
  13. Texas Tech
  14. Tennessee
  15. USC
  16. BYU
  17. Nebraska
  18. Louisville
  19. Mizzou
  20. Houston
  21. Iowa
  22. Florida
  23. Texas A&M
  24. Northwestern
  25. South Carolina

That’s 10 SEC teams in the top 25, for those keeping track. The 6 SEC squads that didn’t make the cut were Kentucky (No. 26), Oklahoma (No. 30), Auburn (No. 37), Mississippi State (No. 42), Arkansas (No. 69) and Vanderbilt (No. 71).

What more does Kentucky have to do to crack the top 25? We’re not sure, but not having the Wildcats among the nation’s best squads seems like a major oversight.

Check back next week to see how the FPI rankings change following Week 10!
