GEORGIA SENIOR QB HUTSON MASON

Stats: 178-of-262, 67.9 percent, 2,019 passing yards, 20 TDs, 4 INTs, 15 sacks, 154.8 rating

Big-time game: His best game was against Kentucky. The Bulldogs absolutely smashed the Wildcats, 63-31. In that game, Mason was 13-of-16 for 174 yards and four touchdowns. Any time you have more touchdowns than you do incompletions, you had a pretty good game.

Not his best effort: In a season in which Mason was very accurate, his worst game was in a win at home against Tennessee. Mason was 16-of-25 for 147 yards and a touchdown. He also had two picks and could’ve thrown a few more but the Vols dropped them. He looked like he had zero confidence that game.

Improvements: He needs to improve his arm strength. It’s tough when you’re a fifth-year senior to improve it that much before your pro day, but maybe he can.

Strengths: Mason is definitely an accurate kid. He completed 68 percent of his passes this season and only threw four picks, which was one of the best in the SEC this year. Not turning the ball over and being accurate are always strengths and Mason accomplished both.

Weakness: Mason doesn’t have the greatest arm talent in the world. I watched many Bulldogs games this season, and I noticed that he didn’t get a whole lot behind his passes. He does have a high football IQ and knows his limits. Arm strength is something that can’t really be improved on right now for the fifth-year senior.

Overall: He didn’t get a whole lot of opportunities to throw this year, but when he did, he was pretty accurate. I saw his confidence go from rock bottom against Tennessee, when he threw two picks and just didn’t look like he had anything on the ball, to a confident quarterback. Mason only threw four picks the whole year, and that alone is pretty impressive. The season didn’t end the way they wanted it to, but Mason did have a pretty solid senior year.
