Hours after Nick Chubb’s mother posted details about the severity of his left knee injury on Facebook, the University of Georgia updated fans and media Sunday on the running back’s prognosis.

Georgia Senior Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine Ron Courson said, “the injury involves damage to multiple ligaments and cartilage; however, the damage does not include the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). Neither does the injury involve arteries or nerves.”

Courson said Chubb’s injury is repairable, but doctors must wait several weeks for the swelling to dissipate before operating.
