Georgia football fans โ€“ especially those in the Atlanta area โ€“ will be hearing a lot from former Bulldog quarterback D.J. Shockley this fall. Chip Towers of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting that Shockley has accepted positions with UGA and Atlanta’s Fox 5.

Towers reports that Shockley has agreed to terms with Georgia and Learfield IMG College to succeed Chuck Dowdle. Shockley’s role is described as “ambassadorial” and includes working as the sideline reporter for radio broadcasts and hosting coachesโ€™ shows and other events. Towers details that one of those hosting duties for Shockley will be the weekly โ€œInside Georgia Football with Kirby Smartโ€ show. Shockley will also serve as master of ceremonies for banquets and appearances that include Smart and other Bulldog coaches.

At Fox 5, Shockley has accepted a full-time position as the Monday-Friday sports anchor, per Towers. Shockley succeeds Ken Rodriguez, who retired last month.

Shockley joined the SEC Network in July of 2018. The AJC article mentions he has also served as an analyst on the ACC Network, which is also an ESPN property.
