Todd Gurley has yet to receive an official ruling on how long his suspension will last, but that didn’t keep him out of practicing yesterday with the team.

After being indefinitely suspended last Thursday over an alleged NCAA violation, Gurley did not practice and did not travel to Columbia, Mo. with the team. Georgia still won 34-0 and true freshman running back Nick Chubb exploded for 143 yards and one touchdown on 38 carries in just his first collegiate start.

Gurley’s return to practice certainly gave his teammates an emotional lift, especially after going through such a tumultuous last few days.

“It looked good to see him out there,” Georgia linebacker Ramik Wilson said. “He was running hard, practicing hard and still supporting his teammates. We’re ready for him to be cleared and get back out there.”

Head coach Mark Richt has kept mostly quiet on the Gurley situation, and usually has refused to comment.

“You know what I’d like to do, I’d like to talk about this next game, or we might have to end [the teleconference],” Richt said on Sunday. “It’s not all about this [Gurley] stuff. I do not know anything, so my answer is I don’t know.”

Whether there’s a clear answer or not regarding Gurley’s suspension, Georgia fans have to be encouaged to see their beloved No. 3 back out on the practice field. However, it’s important to remember that another Georgia football star practiced during a four-game suspension in 2010.

According to a report by the AJC last week, an official ruling on the length of Gurley’s suspension should be released sometime this week.
