The Kentucky football program has taken some massive steps forward this season, opening the year with a 3-1 record including its first SEC victory since the 2011. The Wildcats will try and keep the momentum going Saturday when the South Carolina Gamecocks come to town for a crucial SEC East showdown, and the Kentucky football program is already calling for a big presence from the Big Blue Nation.

However, Kentucky would rather the Nation wear black instead of blue for this matchup, further intensifying a game already loaded with East division implications.

Fans are encouraged to wear black and be loud to create a raucous atmosphere inside Commonwealth Stadium Saturday night. Remember, Kentucky wore black uniforms when it snapped its losing streak against Tennessee in 2011, which was UK’s last SEC win until last week.

South Carolina is currently 3-2 and just 1-2 in the SEC. The Cats are 3-1 and 1-1 in conference play, meaning a win would vault them near the top of the East standings through five games this season. Kentucky has not won back-to-back SEC contests since beating Vanderbilt and Georgia in back-to-back road games in 2009.

The Cats bested a ranked South Carolina team at home in 2010, and led a top 10 Gamecocks squad by 10 points at halftime in their last meeting in Lexington in 2012 (South Carolina rallied to win 38-17).

Kickoff in the Bluegrass is slated for 7:30 PM ET, and the game will be televised by the SEC Network.
