The Kentucky Wildcats look to end their four-game losing streak Saturday when they face SEC East rival Tennessee at Neyland Stadium. The Wildcats were 5-1 through their first six games, but haven’t won since Oct. 11. Head coach Mark Stoops told The Courier-Journal Thursday that his team looks to bounce back emotionally after its recent struggles.

“I’ve seen good habits,” Stoops said. “Good energy, good work ethic. I see no lingering effects of a bad game and a few games here in a row. The guys seem prepared and excited so like I said, we’ll see.”

Kentucky has been outscored 169-75 since its Week 8 loss to LSU. Stoops also noted that the team is focused on moving on after its recent stretch of losing.

“I think just in general you have to be that way,” Stoops said. “A lot of college kids are that way. As coaches, we live and die with this stuff, it’s our life. We’re completely consumed with it. But them, they have a lot of things going on and they have school, friends and social life and all that good stuff, so I guess that’s good for them to be resilient. Coaches it takes a little bit longer for us to get over things.”

The Wildcats have faced early deficits in each of their past four losses. Stoops noted that his team needs to figure out ways to jump ahead early.

“I don’t know if there’s any magic formula other than us executing and playing well, making sure we have good play calls and having a good strong mindset,” Stoops said. “We always try to start fast. I think that’s a big part of some of the teams that we play; they always have good schemes and good game plans to get some first downs. So we need to try to do the same thing.”
