Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson wasted no time shooting down a report alleging he was considering transferring to LSU to play his final season of college eligibility in purple and gold.

Jim Kleinpeter of NOLA.com reported Monday that Golson had not only expressed interest in transferring to LSU, but that he had reached out to the program about the possibility of a transfer. Golson responded with a tweet later that afternoon warning readers to be wary of the report.

That same afternoon, acclaimed quarterback guru George Whitfield elaborated on Golson’s tweet, asserting the Fighting Irish quarterback has no intentions of transferring out of the Notre Dame program.

Whitfield tutored Golson in 2013 while Golson sat out the season upon being found guilty of academic misconduct.

Golson is a redshirt junior on pace to graduate this May. Per the NCAA’s graduate transfer rule, Golson could transfer and play his final season of eligibility elsewhere without sitting out a year of action, should he choose to do so.

He is just one week removed from competing against LSU in the Music City Bowl, where he completed 6 of 11 passes for 90 yards and ran once for six yards in a Notre Dame victory. However, he split time in that game with sophomore Malik Zaire, who completed 12 of 15 passes for 96 yards and a touchdown and ran 22 times for 96 yards and two touchdowns.
