Les Miles did his usual media tour on Wednesday after having Monday off due to the bye week. The coach was asked about the Arkansas debacle, looked ahead to the Thanksgiving game against Texas A&M and, of course, spoke about the quarterback situation.

  • Center Elliott Porter, who injured his ankle against Arkansas. The senior will likely miss not just the Texas A&M game but also a bowl, ending his college career. Ethan Pocic, who started the first two games of the season at center and moved over from guard to replace Porter against Arkansas, will move to the middle again. Evan Washington will replace Pocic at guard
  • Guard Vadal Alexander, who didn’t make the trip to Arkansas because of a hand injury, will be ready to return against the Aggies.
  • Miles said that freshman quarterback Brandon Harris is “closing the gap” with Anthony Jennings, but Jennings still gives LSU the best chance to win. Miles said that Jennings is less of a risk to turn the ball over and makes the other 10 players on the field better, and that Jennings would look better if he had veteran receivers “who are always where they’re supposed to be.”
  • Unlike in previous weeks, when Miles has all but guaranteed Harris would play only to leave him on the bench, Miles would not say he whether Harris would play against Texas A&M. Miles said Harris still has strides to make in terms of pre-snap responsibilities.
  • What Miles did guarantee is that LSU would “throw the ball better” against Texas A&M, and that the team is “not throwing the ball like we can.” The coach said there would be “a number of small changes” made by the time LSU takes the field against the Aggies.
