The rumor mill has been pumping out LSU quarterback rumors in bunches for the last 24 hours, and on Tuesday morning another report about a potential transfer surfaced. Braxton Miller, Ohio State’s starting quarterback coming into the season, is reportedly interested in transferring to LSU, per Steve Schneider of WAFB in Baton Rouge, La.

Shea Dixon of Geaux247 followed up Schneider’s report, writing that his LSU sources have said there is “mutual interest” between Miller and LSU. Additionally, Steve Schultz of Huffington Post has reported that Miller is considering LSU and Oregon.

However, Ross Dellenger of the the Advocate (Baton Rouge, La.) wrote that no one close to LSU’s football program could confirm that there is anything substantial behind the rumors. Ohio State coach Urban Meyer said as recently as last week that he expects Miller to be back at OSU next season.

Miller was a preseason Heisman candidate, but suffered a season-ending shoulder injury before the regular season. Miller, a senior, has already graduated from Ohio State but has a year of eligibility remaining, making him eligible to transfer and play immediately in 2015.

Freshman J.T. Barrett replaced Miller, putting together a Heisman-caliber season of his own before suffering a leg injury in the Buckeyes’ regular season finale. Sophomore Cardale Jones replaced Barrett and has led OSU to a Big Ten title and a Sugar Bowl win over Alabama, putting the Buckeyes in the national championship against Oregon.

There are questions as to whether Miller’s shoulder will be healed enough for him to play quarterback going forward. The injury, which reportedly came without contact in OSU preseason practices, was Miller’s second in six months. He had surgery in February 2014 to repair an injury suffered in Ohio State’s Orange Bowl loss to Clemson.

The Miller rumors come on the heels of a report that Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson is interested in transferring to LSU, as well as Ohio State quarterback commit Torrance Gibson, a four-star prospect, scheduling an official visit to LSU.

No matter how these rumors shake out, it should make for an interesting few weeks for LSU football.
