According to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy, Florida State and Ole Miss will open the 2016 college football season in a Power 5 non-conference showdown at the recently renovated Orlando Citrus Bowl.

It’ll mark the second kickoff game in three seasons for the Rebels and Seminoles who each opened the 2014 campaign with neutral site games against Boise State and Oklahoma State.

The $207 million reconstruction of the 78-year old venue in downtown Orlando is nearing completion in time for the 2014 Russell Athletic Bowl in December and the Citrus Bowl on New Year’s Day. Renovations include a new lower bowl with improved chairback seating, luxury suites and a state-of-the-art video board.

The non-conference matchup will surely strengthen each team’s schedule in the College Football Playoff era.
