6. Cody Prewitt, Sr., S, Ole Miss

The Rebels’ senior safety is on several preseason watch lists and rightfully so as one of the SEC’s best players overall heading into the 2014 season. Prewitt put a hand on 13 passes thrown in his area last season including a league-high six interceptions. The consensus All-SEC selection doesn’t have a weakness in his game and is one of the reasons Ole Miss has garnered the label of SEC West sleeper throughout the offseason.

Prewitt pursues the football with tenacity and packs a serious punch at 6-foot-2, 220 pounds. Ole Miss defensive coordinator Dave Wommack’s shown extreme confidence in his top playmaker at the back end, often leaving him as the single-high safety. Route recognition, an element indicative of premier safeties at the next level, is one of his top attributes.
