Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh’s plans of holding spring practices in Florida has caused quite a stir in the SEC, notably with Georgia head coach Kirby Smart.

Speaking at the Macon Touchdown Club on Monday, the first-year coach had a lot to say about it while making it clear that he was against what Harbaugh was doing.

“I can’t comment other than to say they’re obviously trying to gain a competitive advantage,” Smart said. “That’s their right but I think the NCAA, in due time, will have to step in and keep it from getting out of hand.”

“There are a lot of factors that people haven’t thought about with that deal,” Smart added. “You’ve got to think about recruiting rules, how they are going to handle those? Is it an advantage or a disadvantage? Are they going to let coaches go to those? Are they going to be open practices? Do we go over there and watch them and scout them? If it’s open practices, why don’t we go? It’s a Pandora’s Box of what they’re going to get into.”

Harbaugh responded to Smart on Wednesday through Twitter.

Earlier on Wednesday, Harbaugh tweeted this out:

Harbaugh announced on National Signing Day that his Wolverines would hold part of their spring practice at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., from Feb. 27 to March 6.
