Now that spring practice is finished, let’s take a close look at the injury situation on every SEC West team, keeping in mind suspensions, transfers and players who have been kicked off the team recently.

ALABAMA

Major Injuries: RB Bo Scarbrough (torn ACL), WR Cam Sims (torn ACL)

Other Casualties: DL Jonathan Taylor (domestic abuse accusation), RB Tyren Jones (marijuana)

Other than Scarbrough and Sims, both of whom are likely to miss the season, CB Cyrus Jones underwent hip surgery in January and did not practice this spring. Jones should be the team’s No. 1 cover corner if he’s healthy, and probably the best player in the entire secondary, so the Tide needs him at 100 percent this fall.

LB Denzel Devall also missed all of spring ball. The team suffered some other bumps and bruises — DL A’Shawn Robinson dealt with a sprained knee and ankle, while DL Jonathan Allen and LB Ryan Anderson missed the spring game as well. Outside of the two players with torn ACLs, the team should be fine by fall.

ARKANSAS

Major Injuries: RB Juan Day (ACL)

Other (Potential) Casualties: WR Kendrick Edwards, LB Randy Ramsey

RB Alex Collins sprained his ankle and Bret Bielema held him and Jonathan Williams out of the spring game, but both of them should be good to go entering the summer. RB Denzell Evans missed time with a groin injury, but returned by the end of the spring.

Overall, there aren’t many notable injuries. Edwards (discipline) and Ramsey (academics) could work their way back onto the team this summer, according to coach Bret Bielema.

The team is pretty thin at running back and needs its stars to stay healthy this fall.

AUBURN

Major Injuries: CB T.J. Davis (ACL)

Other Casualties: None

CB Jonathan Jones (foot) had minor surgery in April, and his recovery is worth monitoring this summer as he was a second-team All-SEC selection in 2014.

DE Carl Lawson (knee) remained limited this spring, but he’s right on track to become the “Buck” hybrid linebacker/end in new coordinator Will Muschamp’s system. The team handled G Alex Kozan, another huge part of this year’s team and a previous All-SEC selection in 2013, with caution this spring as well after 2014 back surgery on a herniated disc.

DE DaVonte Lambert also continues to rehab the ACL he tore in November, and even if he’s healthy by the fall, it will be interesting to see if he’s the same player or whether his absence from practice will affect his depth-chart standing.

LT Shon Coleman missed the spring game due to a minor injury. Gimel President, Jordan Diamond, Raashed Kennion and Stanton Truitt missed time due to injuries this spring as well.

Davis is the only player who definitely will miss significant time this season, but Auburn has a lot of very important players coming off major injuries who need to be monitored.

LSU

Major Injuries: None

Other (Potential) Casualties: Travonte Valentine

DT Quentin Thomas had surgery on a torn biceps that he played with last season, but coach Les Miles said he’ll be healthy and ready to go this fall. TE Jacory Washington (sprained knee) and S Corey Thompson (knee) also missed the spring game. DE Lewis Neal (ankle) missed the spring game and wore a walking boot.

None of those players should be out in the fall, and LSU is one of the healthiest teams in the SEC out of spring ball.

Valentine, cleared to play by the NCAA, still faces internal discipline (indefinite suspension) after failing to meet Miles’ academic requirements.

MISSISSIPPI STATE

Major Injuries: None

Other Casualties: None

S Kendrick Market (ruptured Achilles at the end of last season) missed all spring still recovering. CB Taveze Calhoun also missed all of spring practice with an injury, meaning two of the Bulldogs’ returning starters — of which there are between six and eight depending on whom you ask — are recovering from injuries.

QB Damian Williams and QB Elijah Staley (torn patella tendon) both missed the spring game, though media reports are unclear on Williams’ injury.

The team is fairly healthy, but with such inexperience, one or two injuries could make a major impact this fall.

OLE MISS

Major Injuries: None.

Other Casualties: RB I’Tavius Mathers, RB Mark Dodson, S David Kamara (all transfers)

The big three — LT Laremy Tunsil, WR Laquon Treadwell and LB Denzel Nkemdiche — all are on track to play this fall after major leg injuries.

Treadwell and Nkemdiche are much further along than Tunsil, and both of them did plenty of running around on the field this spring. Ole Miss handled them with care. Tunsil continues to rehab, motivated by the potential he could be a Top 5 NFL draft pick in ’16.

S Mike Hilton broke his thumb and OL Sean Rawlings broke his arm during spring practice, but both players should be fine by the fall.

After returning from injury earlier in the spring, WR Markell Pack got his two front teeth knocked out in practice and appeared to miss the spring game, though media reports weren’t clear. OL Aaron Morris still is recovering from a torn ACL, though the team hopes to have him back on the field this fall.

TEXAS A&M

Major Injuries: None

Other Casualties: WR LaQuvionte Gonzalez

Reports on the Aggies’ injuries were sparse this spring. Texas A&M didn’t hold a spring game due to renovations of Kyle Field.

We do know that starting center Mike Matthews missed spring ball, and the team’s top four linebackers — Otaro Alaka, A.J. Hilliard, Josh Walker and Shaan Washington — missed time as well. But overall, the Aggies seem ready to enter the fall healthy.
