SDS talent evaluators Jon Cooper and Brad Crawford spent several months breaking down last year’s highlights, incoming talent and projected 2014 impact following spring practice to compile a list of the SEC’s Top 100 players heading into fall. Athletes were selected by position then ranked overall counting down to No. 1.

We’ve reached the final Top 25 and will unveil a new player daily leading up to opening night on Aug. 28.

23. Tre’Davious White, Soph., CB, LSU

A Jim Thorpe watch list nominee, White made a name for himself quickly on John Chavis’ defense last fall as a true freshman, sparking the Tigers’ secondary with 55 tackles, seven pass breakups and two interceptions. The last of three LSU defensive backs in our Top 100 joining Rashard Robinson and suspended Jalen Mills, White is a step better than his teammates in coverage and has all-conference potential.

White’s one of seven returning starters for the Tigers, the most since the 2011 season. Forcing turnovers and attacking the football is something LSU’s coaching staff will stress in fall camp considering last season’s 19 takeaways was the fewest from their defensive unit since 2009.

2013 statistics: 55 tackles, 7 PBU, 2 INT
2014 projection: 53 tackles, 9 PBU, 3 INT
