On the heels of weekend losses by a pair of Big Ten Top 10s, the SEC continued its early-season surge in Sunday’s Week 3 Amway Coaches Poll with five league teams (four from the West) ranked inside the top nine and eight overall.

In last week’s coaches poll, Michigan State and Ohio State were ranked Nos. 6 and 7 respectively, but losses on Saturday disrupted the Big Ten’s College Football Playoff hopes.
