Since being named South Carolina’s head coach, Will Muschamp has done an admirable job rallying support around the Gamecock program.

Muschamp was instrumental in landing a Top 25 recruiting class in 2016, despite only being on the job since late December, and already has eight commitments lined up for South Carolina’s 2017 recruiting class. Take a quick glance around the recruiting landscape and you’ll notice many of the Southeast’s elite prospects have the Gamecocks in their Top 10 lists. That’s all due to Muschamp and his staff putting in the work to hype up the program and return it to the level Steve Spurrier had it at not long ago.

No matter how hard Muschamp works off the field and the success the school has on the recruiting trail, the perception of the football program won’t change until the team starts winning on the field once again.

On Monday one Clemson fan took advantage of an opportunity to let Muschamp and South Carolina know where things still stand in the state’s pecking order by posting a huge “3-9” sign to the back of Muschamp’s Boom Bus:

No amount of hype or recruiting success is going to change that number. After the Gamecocks won every game in the annual series from 2009-2013, Clemson has defeated South Carolina in the last two meetings.
