The state of Louisiana is currently under siege by persistent flooding. Thousands of people have been forced to evacuate, and the water damage (particularly in the greater Baton Rouge area) has been considerable.

Taking to his personal Twitter page, The University of South Carolina President Harris Pastides reached out and offered his support to LSU and those beset by the flooding.

Last year, flooding in the greater Columbia area was significant to the point that the contest between South Carolina and LSU was moved to Baton Rouge. LSU was supremely accommodating, and helped to raise a great deal of money for those afflicted by the flooding.

The LSU band learned/performed the South Carolina fight song, and running back Leonard Fournette received permission to auction off a game jersey as a means to raise money for the cause. The uniform was sold for an eye-popping $101,000.

Fast-forward one year, and the two institutions find themselves in a similar situation — only with the roles reversed. Though both are fierce SEC competitors, the acts of humanity and benevolence are the true winners in this ordeal.
