No. 7 Texas A&M (2-0) continues the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 9 p.m. ET kickoff against Rice (0-1) on Saturday. Let’s look inside some of the numbers.

THE GOOD

69.7: Percentage of Texas A&M drives that have ended in touchdowns since the team installed Jake Spavital as its play-caller. In 33 offensive possessions, the Aggies have scored 23 touchdowns, made three field goals, missed one field goal, punted three times and committed three turnovers.

7: Aggies who have caught touchdown passes two games into the season. The list includes Malcome Kennedy, Josh Reynolds, Edward Pope, Ricky Seals-Jones, Boone Niederhofer, Sabian Holmes and Laquivonte Gonzalez.

69: The average total (over/under) in Vegas for games involving the 2014 Texas A&M football team.

THE BAD

306: Rushing yards the Aggies allowed against Rice in 2013. The Owls also scored 31 points on the A&M defense in last year’s season opener, a bad omen for a team with division title aspirations.

9.2: Yards per pass attempt for Dylan Thompson against Texas A&M on Aug. 28. Thompson threw for 366 yards and four touchdowns despite losing big, but the Aggies won’t be able to give up those kinds of numbers every game and expect to stay unbeaten. Rice quarterback Driphus Jackson isn’t exactly Joe Montana, but Lamar wasn’t a real test. The secondary needs to show improvement against an FBS passing game.

16: Days until Texas A&M kicks off its SEC schedule against Arkansas (on Sept. 27). It’s nice to win games, but the Aggies may be a boring watch the next few weeks kicking around Rice and a Southern Methodist program without a head coach.
