According to Robert Cessna, Ashley Furniture HomeStore in College Station is offering to cover any purchases made by customers during its 12-day Kickoff Event if Texas A&M beats South Carolina by double digits on Aug. 28.

Chris Clark, director of marketing for the Wilks Group, says there’s no limit on cost.

“You can buy just a sofa or a whole new living room,” Clark said. “If the Aggies win by 10 or more we’ll cut you a check for the amount.”

General manager Gabe Gonzalez and his staff are hyping the substantial risk as the biggest promotion to ever hit Aggieland. The store has purchased an insurance policy in case Texas A&M can snap the Gamecocks’ 18-game home winning streak in convincing fashion.

The most recent opening line for the game is South Carolina by 10.5 points. The Gamecocks are 9-0 in season openers under Steve Spurrier.

No word yet if the Bojangles across the street from Williams-Brice Stadium has enough complimentary Bo’Berry biscuits in case the Gamecocks cover.
