Texas A&M wide receiver Frank Iheanacho was suspended from the team on Wednesday following an arrest on Tuesday. In a development first reported by local radio station 1150 The Zone/KZNE, Iheanacho was arrested for shoplifting and failure to identify to police officers.

The charges listed on the Brazos County records search list the charges against Iheanacho as failure to identify and giving false/fictitious information. Iheanacho was confined and released on $2,000 bond on Tuesday, according to county records. The charges indicate that Iheanacho either refused to identify himself to officers or gave false identification.

Iheanacho was allegedly caught shoplifting from a Wal-Mart, according to a report from 247sports. The Houston Chronicle reported that Iheanacho has been suspended from all team activities due to athletic department policy, according to a university spokesperson.

Iheanacho’s arrest and suspension does not necessarily mean that he will miss time during the season. There have been cases of players getting arrested during the offseason, such as Johnny Manziel, and still playing during the first game of the season. Texas A&M is not practicing on Wednesday and Thursday’s practice will be closed to the media, so we will have to wait to hear from Kevin Sumlin on the matter.

As a freshman in 2014, Iheanacho appeared in seven games and had two catches for 23 yards. He is a former four-star recruit from Houston and was an Army All-American in high school.
