CBS analyst Gary Danielson is not one to be shy about stating his opinion.

Speaking on the CBS SEC Football podcast Tuesday afternoon, he made some interesting remarks about Tennessee’s offense — in particular second-string running back Alvin Kamara:

“With Kamara bursting onto the scene, and in my mind, I think the top back in the league right now. Name anybody, I’ll take Kamara.”

Last weekend versus Texas A&M, he accounted for 127 yards rushing and 161 yards receiving.

Now, Danielson’s viewpoint may be a bit skewed. Tennessee is set to feature on CBS for the fourth-straight Saturday this upcoming weekend versus No. 1 Alabama. The SEC also features runners such as Texas A&M’s Trayveon Williams, Vanderbilt’s Ralph Webb, Kentucky’s Stanley ‘Boom’ Williams, and Georgia’s Nick Chubb. Outside of the A&M game, Kamara’s stats have been relatively pedestrian.

With that said, UT’s second-string back has the talent to truly be a force in this league — especially if starting tailback Jalen Hurd continues to mysteriously sit out.
