Tennessee is a seven point underdog at South Carolina on Saturday. Here’s a look inside some of the numbers:

THE GOOD

4.0: Derek Barnett is tied with Curt Maggitt for a team-best 4.0 sacks through eight games. With several games remaining, the former Brentwood Academy standout has already set a new freshman school record for sacks in a single season and should add more. Barnett also leads the Vols with 11.0 tackles for loss and is averaging 1.4 per game.

30: Marquez North and Pig Howard both lead Tennessee with 30 receptions. North, however, holds a strong advantage over the rest of the Vols receivers in receiving yards (320) and touchdowns (4). The sophomore entered the 2014 season with high expectations after being named to the SEC All-Freshman team in 2013. North has seen a solid output in recent weeks with the emergence of freshman Josh Malone and return of Von Pearson, bringing less double coverage from opposing defenses.

THE BAD

32: Tennessee’s offensive line has allowed 32 sacks this season and is averaging four sacks allowed per game. The Vols rank No. 123 overall in sacks allowed, the third worst in the FBS. Tennessee will face a South Carolina defensive line that has also struggled in the trenches this season, tying for No. 118 overall with eight total sacks.

284.3: South Carolina ranks No. 29 overall in passing offense, averaging 284.3 yards per game. Dylan Thompson has thrown for 2,241 yards, 20 touchdowns and nine interceptions during a breakout senior season. With a plethora of talented pass catchers, Thompson has plenty of targets to spread the football against Tennessee’s talented secondary on Saturday.
