Tennessee travels to Nashville to face in-state rival Vanderbilt on Saturday. The Vols look to end a three-year bowl drought with a win over the Commodores. Here’s a look inside the numbers.

THE GOOD

756: Jalen Hurd leads Tennessee with 756 rushing yards on 169 attempts. Hurd has the most yards by a Vols freshman back since Arian Foster rushed for 879 yards in 2005. The Hendersonville, Tenn., native has seen the majority of carries in Tennessee’s offense since Week 1 and continues to excel as the team’s feature back.

1,287: Joshua Dobbs emerged as a standout dual-threat quarterback. Dobbs has thrown for 985 yards, eight touchdowns and three interceptions on 85-of-136 passing, while rushing for 302 yards and four touchdown on 70 attempts.

9.0: Derek Barnett and Curt Maggitt lead the Vols with 9.0 sacks each. Barnett also leads with 18.5 tackles for loss, while Maggitt has chipped in 12.0. The freshman Barnett has already set the school freshman record in both categories and can add to his totals with a strong performance on Saturday.

-15: Vanderbilt has a -15 turnover ratio. The Commodores have thrown 16 interceptions and lost 10 fumbles. Tennessee should take advantage of Vanderbilt’s struggles en route to securing bowl eligibility.

THE BAD

101: Tennessee will be without leading tackler A.J. Johnson, who continues to serve a suspension. Johnson, whose coming off back-to-back seasons at least 100 tackles, had 101 before missing last week’s game and was on pace to surpass his previous season-best of 138.

39: Tennessee ranks No. 120 overall in sacks allowed. The Vols allowed six sacks against Missouri last week and have allowed 39 in 2014. Tennessee faces a Vanderbilt defense that ranks 15 sacks for the season.
