Following last week’s decision to transfer, former Texas A&M QB Kyler Murray was given his release to attend any school not in the SEC or on the Aggies future schedule through 2019.

The Texas Longhorns met that criteria, and given their past interest in the five-star QB recruit, it was easy for people to try to connect the dots that would make Murray a Longhorn.

It would have been the ultimate twist to what has already been a pretty wild story, and a great way for Texas coach Charlie Strong to put some heat back into a dormant football rivalry.

But, according to OrangeBloods.com writer Anwar Richardson, it isn’t likely to happen:

There continues to be speculation to move on from Texas A&M was in the interest of protecting Murray’s future as a baseball player. His decision on what to do next, as it pertains to football, may be based on what puts him in the best position to better his chances of becoming a professional baseball player.
