Laquon Treadwell is officially a Viking.

According to his representatives at Impact Sports Management, the former Ole Miss star wide receiver signed his rookie contract with the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday afternoon:

ProFootballTalk.com reports that Treadwell’s deal is for four years with a team option for a fifth season.

“He’s got a lot of traits like Anquan Boldin,” one scout told Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “His physicality. He won’t be the fastest but he does have size and stature. … Plays with an attitude. A lot of people knock him on the speed but when the ball’s at the catch point he comes down with it.”

The No. 23 overall selection in the 2016 NFL Draft, the Vikings are hoping that Treadwell can make an immediate impact with the passing game, much like he did during his time with Ole Miss, where he set a program record with 202 career receptions and turned them into 2,393 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Despite his 4.63-second 40-yard dash at the NFL combine and devastating leg/ankle injuries suffered during the 2014 season, Treadwell projects to be a strong contributor at the professional level for years to come.

“Solid,” a second scout told McGinn. “Larry Fitzgerald didn’t run well. Even Jerry Rice, he never ran better than 4.6. I hate to get scared off by the time but I would not take him (in the first round).”

It should be fun watching Treadwell line up with Stefon Diggs and Cordarelle Patterson, with on-the-rise quarterback Teddy Bridgewater throwing him the ball and (potential) future Hall of Fame running back Adrian Petersen setting up in the backfield.
