Former Alabama LB Eryk Anders wins MMA middleweight championship

Former Alabama LB Eryk Anders won the Legacy Fighting Alliance middleweight championship Friday night.

It was a unanimous decision from three judges after Anders and his opponent, Brendan Allen, went the full five rounds, and with the victory, Anders stayed a perfect 8-0 in his professional career.

It was only the second time in his career that Anders actually had a fight last past the first round.

Anders played at Alabama from 2006-2009, making 98 tackles, including 19 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks. He was a member of Alabama’s 2009 national championship win against Texas, leading the Tide with seven tackles and one forced fumble.

Anders continues working towards getting a call from the UFC.
