Alabama’s linebacking corps was decimated in a Week 1 win over Florida State, with Christian Miller and Terrell Lewis suffering biceps and elbow injuries, respectively.

Both were assumed to be out for the year, but that might not be the case anymore, according to coach Nick Saban.

During Wednesday night’s press conference, Saban said both players are in the “functional phase” of their rehabilitation process. However, he added that he isn’t sure when they’ll be medically cleared:

If one or both players could return by the end of the year, that would be great news for an Alabama team that recently lost LBs Shaun Dion Hamilton and Mack Wilson to injuries.

Alabama’s defense has chugged along without Miller and Lewis, but the Crimson Tide could certainly use the two valuable players back in the mix eventually.
