The Florida Gators are reportedly looking at former NFL and Oregon coach Chip Kelly and current UCF coach Scott Frost as two of their top candidates to replace Jim McElwain.

However, Frost could soon take himself out of that mix, as his alma mater, Nebraska may soon have an opening, too.

According to Lars Anderson of Bleacher Report, rumors are swirling that the Cornhuskers are nearing a deal to bring Frost back to Lincoln on a seven-year, $35 million contract:

The Gators could likely top that offer, money-wise, but it remains to be seen if they’re willing to wait around for Frost to finish the special season he has going at UCF. Florida could also decide to move forward with Kelly, too.

It’ll be exciting to see who the Gators decide to go with in the coming weeks, but if these rumors are to be believed, Frost could decide on a different path very soon.
