The Florida Gators have found their next head coach in Dan Mullen.

The university made the official announcement Sunday evening that Mullen will become the next head coach of the Gators. Mullen previously worked as the offensive coordinator for the Gators under Urban Meyer and was part of two national championships before taking the head coaching job at Mississippi State in 2009.

Mullen led the Bulldogs to 69 wins during his time there but could not turn down the chance to return to Florida.

The hiring should excite the Gators fan base, and Steve Spurrier took time to welcome Mullen back to Florida. Spurrier shared his welcome video to Twitter and said that Mullen is “well prepared” to turn Florida back into a top 10 program.
