After admitting to some entitlement issues during his first stint in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns, Johnny Manziel understands it’s going to take a lot of effort to prove he’s changed his ways and get another shot in the league.

If what NFL Media insider Mike Garafolo is reporting is accurate, Manziel is willing to do whatever it takes to show his commitment to the game — including taking a minimum salary and spending a year on the practice squad if that’s what it takes to show that he’s changed his ways.

From the NFL Combine, Garafolo offered up the latest on Manziel’s comeback attempt in an NFL.com video:

“I can tell you this, via sources close to Johnny, he is in touch with multiple NFL head coaches, there have been conversations. Those people around him believe it’s a very real possibility he could return to the NFL — whether before or after his appearance in the spring league.

“And I will also tell you this, teams have been informed that Manziel will take zero dollars guaranteed, minimum salary if need be and, you may not know this, he’s still eligible for the practice squad. He would be open to signing a practice squad contract, staying on a team’s practice squad and proving he’s in the right mindset throughout this entire NFL season to get back in the right place with a lot of NFL evaluators.”

That would seem to be quite the sacrifice from the former first-round pick, but considering his drastic fall from the top, unusual measures likely need to be taken by the former Texas A&M Heisman Trophy winner to prove he deserves another chance at playing in the NFL.
