If there’s anything to be said about LSU’s quarterback competition, it’s that everyone’s getting a shot.

But one player who’s stock appears to be rising is Myles Brennan, who has twice drawn praise from coach Ed Orgeron. The coaching staff has flipped the practice schedule with each player getting a turn with each unit, one through four.

There are five quarterbacks on the roster, but it appears the competition has zeroed in on Brennan and Ohio State transfer Joe Burrows.

Orgeron has said he plans to name a starter by the end of the preseason, but he’s also tossed around the idea of using the mobile quarterbacks — Justin McMillan and Lowell Narcisse — in special packages. Brennan has received some compliments from Orgeron, but the coach has also credited Burrows with a level of confidence and said he’s commanded the huddle.

The Tigers open the season on Sept. 2 against Miami at AT&T Stadium.
