WATCH: Calvin Ridley’s first NFL catch goes for negative yardage

The Atlanta Falcons got off to an abysmal start in their first preseason game of the 2018 campaign, failing to record a single first down in the first half of the contest against the New York Jets.

Most fans chose to blame OC Steve Sarkisian, a former Alabama assistant, for the anemic performance, but Atlanta at least got a chance to see first-round pick Calvin Ridley in action.

As you can see in the video below, though, Ridley’s first NFL catch didn’t go so well, ending in a loss of three yards:

As mentioned in the tweet, it wasn’t a great play call, considering the situation. It also ended up being Ridley’s only catch of the game (he only played a couple of series), so he’ll have to wait until next week to climb back into the positive yardage column.

Plenty of balls will be thrown his way this year, though, so there’s nothing to worry about with the former Alabama star just yet.
