After spending the 2017 season on the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad, former Alabama WR Gehrig Dieter would like to make the active roster this time around.

On Friday night, he got off to a good start in that regard, catching his first NFL touchdown pass during a preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons.

As you can see in the video below, Dieter breaks free from his defender along the left sideline and hauls in an easy 27-yard touchdown pass from QB Chad Henne:

Dieter finished with two catches for 36 yards, including the above touchdown. The former Crimson Tide receiver is still working with the backups, but if he continues to play well and can find ways to contribute on special teams, he could work his way onto the 53-man roster.

For now, though, his sights will be set on next week’s game, when he’ll have another chance to prove his worth to the Chiefs.
