The SEC went 13-1 on the opening weekend of the 2018 college football season but the most unexpected result appears to have come from Arlington where LSU just dominated Miami in every phase of the game. The Tigers may have only been a 2 and 1/2 point underdog in the game but most were picking against Ed Orgeron’s team heading into the opener.

The Tigers went on to destroy the Hurricanes 33-17 to kick off the season. Keep in mind that two of Miami’s touchdowns came in the fourth quarter and this game was never in any doubt after LSU took a 27-3 lead.

Kirk Herbstreit was among the doubters but he’s trying to make amends for picking against LSU by publicly apologizing and now awarding the Tigers with his most impressive win of the week. On Tuesday, the College GameDay host issued his list of top performances and players of the week. LSU ranked No. 1 on the list while Auburn’s defensive lineman Nick Coe ranked No. 5 on his most impressive individual player list.

LSU barely ranked in the preseason polls but after beating a preseason top 10 Miami team, the Tigers are poised to make one of the biggest jumps in the Week 2 polls on Tuesday.
