The Florida Gators lost at home to the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday night — the first time in the last 32 years they’d fallen to the ‘Cats.

That’s obviously something first-year Florida coach Dan Mullen would have liked to avoid, as even Jim McElwain managed to beat the Wildcats every year.

For their efforts (or lack thereof), the Gators landed a spot in the infamous ESPN “Bottom 10” rankings this week. Florida checked in at the No. 5 spot in the Burt Reynolds-themed rankings:

This week’s Coveted Fifth Spot would no doubt put a signature smile on the face of the man who played the title role in “Gator” but was a Seminole to the core.

The Gators have a chance to bounce back this weekend against Colorado State, and they’ll need to win big to calm the fanbase.

Then, a big test lurks in Week 4, when the Gators travel to Tennessee to play under the lights against the Vols for the first time since 2012.
