David Pollack on Texas A&M: ‘They’re not a threat to win the West’

The Texas A&M Aggies are 1-1 through Jimbo Fisher’s first two games as coach, with a narrow 28-26 loss to No. 2 Clemson on their resume.
However, there’s still a long road ahead for the Aggies if they want to compete on a national scale on a yearly basis.
On Saturday’s episode of ESPN College GameDay, analyst David Pollack said he doesn’t see the Aggies as a real threat to Alabama or Auburn in the SEC West hierarchy.
“They’re not a threat to win the West,” he said. “They’re not a threat to Alabama, they’re not a threat to Auburn. They’re very improved, but they’re not a threat to win the West.”
Pollack’s sentiments were echoed by the other members of the GameDay panel, but Kirk Herbstreit added that he thinks the Aggies can still turn in a strong finish in the SEC West.
“I think they’ve got a chance to be in that top three, which is saying something in the SEC West,” he said.
The Aggies host Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday before a trip to Tuscaloosa next weekend for a showdown against the Tide. We’ll find out a lot about A&M at that time.
