Arkansas has just secured the program’s top target of the 2019 recruiting cycle as the nation’s No. 1 tight end prospect, Little Rock native Hudson Henry, announced his commitment to the Razorbacks on Thursday over finalists Stanford, Clemson, Penn State, and Wisconsin.

This announcement is the latest major coup for Chad Morris on the recruiting trail and the latest sign of the forward progress of his Razorback program since taking over the job late last year. Arkansas is already closing in on what would be the highest-ranked recruiting class in school history and Morris just landed the highest-ranked pledge of his coaching career with the addition of Henry.

There was plenty of motivation for Henry to pick the Razorbacks, he’s a legacy with strong family ties to the program, including most notably his brothers (former Arkansas All-American tight end Hunter Henry and current Razorback linebacker Hayden), but plenty of reasons for the Little Rock native to select other options, too. His list of scholarship offers is as long as any elite prospect in the country, ranging from elite football factors such as Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State, to elite academic schools like Stanford and Notre Dame, but in the end, the pull to be a Razorback proved to be too much for Henry.

With Henry’s pledge to the 2019 recruiting class, Arkansas now holds commitments from 22 prospects, seven of which come from four-star prospects. The 6-foot-5, 230-pound Little Rock native is ranked as the No. 1 tight end prospect in the nation and the No. 50 overall recruit nationally by 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Henry announced his commitment with the following Twitter post:

Arkansas will also make a jump up the team recruiting rankings with Henry’s addition. Previously ranked No. 19 in the nation, the latest Razorback class now ranks No. 17 nationally.

The Razorbacks are set to face Ole Miss in Little Rock this week with the hopes of returning to the Hill with a victory but regardless of what happens in that game, the future of Morris’ program got significantly brighter this week thanks to the win in Little Rock that occurred well before the matchup with the Rebels takes place.
