Jimbo Fisher praises QB Kellen Mond, offers update on Otaro Alaka after Texas A&M beats UAB
Texas A&M took care of business against a strong UAB team (ranked No. 25 in the Coaches Poll) Saturday night, winning 41-20. It’s a relief for the Aggies to get through “Cupcake Week” without a hiccup, even though the Blazers were no cupcake. It’s a positive for TAMU to advance to 7-4, but it’s next week, the season finale against LSU, that will likely determine how people grade the first season of the Fisher era.
After the UAB game, Fisher discussed his quarterback, the team’s performance in all three phases and offered an update on LB Otaro Alaka.

Jimbo Fisher postgame: Great win. Very good opponent with 35 seniors. Played like it. First time we’ve lost time of possession all year. Special teams were outstanding. Efficient offensively. Ran the football well. Kellen was outstanding and very accurate.

Fisher: We wanted to finish the game. Letting them back in after the fumble. We have to learn how to finish the games and play and do what we need to do as a program.

Fisher: You’re never where you want to be. Even if we win them all … good enough is never good enough.

Jimbo just told me Otaro Alaka left with concussion-like symptoms, and they weren’t taking any chances with him after that.
